The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has targeted to win 300,000 votes for its Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming general elections on December 7th, 2024.
The governing party has devised several strategies towards achieving this feat which would represent about a 200% increase in the votes accrued for President Akufo-Addo in the 2020 general elections.
The NPP has, therefore, launched the Women’s Wing campaign which would play an integral part in helping it maintain power.
Addressing the Conference, the Volta Regional NPP Secretary, Pope Yao Yevoo reminded the participants of their role in helping Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to win the 2024 presidential elections.
He reiterated that the objective of winning 300,000 votes is on course adding that the Volta Regional NPP Chairman, Makafui Woanyah would is leading a team and would visit every constituency to embark on a rigorous campaign.
“The Regional Chairman would come to every constituency to campaign. We will do house-to-house, market-to-market, desk-to-desk, room-to-room, bed-to-bed and pillow-pillow. With that, our number is assured of winning”, he said.
A Member of the Volta Region NPP Campaign Committee, Barbara Quashigah entreated women to believe in the NPP as it has exhibited its commitment to uplifting women by appointing women to key positions and formulating policies and programmes to propel women's empowerment.
“My fellow women, let me take this opportunity to now tell you the truth that must be our pride for sacrificing for the course of the NPP. There is no political party in our history that has respected and promoted women than the NPP”, she said.
The Deputy National Women's Organizer of the NPP, Hajia Safia Mohammed implored the people of the Volta Region to ditch the National Democratic Party (NDC) for not fairly treating their son, the late Jerry John Rawlings who founded the opposition party.
She urged them to vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and put him to the test as the President to lead Ghana for the next four years and implement his digitization agenda.
“I want to appeal to you the good people of the Volta Region to try His Excellency Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia for just four years. That is my humble appeal to you. Give him a try and see whether you will see a loyal friend in him”, she said.
The Volta Regional Women’s Organiser, Hannah Ashade underscored the importance of maintaining the NPP in power to ensure the progress of the country.
She charged her fellow patriots to continue to be ambassadors of the NPP and Dr. Bawumia to help the governing party win the elections and break the 8-year cycle of power rotation in the fourth republic.
