Ohene Kwame Frimpong, the man behind Medikal’s sold-out concert at the Indigo at the O2, has disclosed the support he had from artistes that performed at the concert.
OK Frimpong, who is an independent candidate for the Asante Akyem North Constituency told Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM's Showbiz A-Z that almost all the performers at the event footed their own bills.
“All the acts that came to support Medikal, it’s just about two of them that we had to pay for some things, hotel and a few things. Almost all of them, they took the financial part themselves.
Definitely, we didn’t do anything for Shatta Wale. That’s the only one I will mention. The rest I won’t say,” he said.
He indicated that he didn’t even pay their performance fees.
The concert which was held in London on May 3, 2024 had on the bill artistes like Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Sister Derby, Jah Bahd, Efya, among others.
OK Frimpong said in 2018 his first event in the UK which billed Amakye Dede and Kuami Eugene flopped because he was new to the event space. However, he made gains from subsequent programmes including Medikal's concert in London.
Ohene is an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and visionary leader who has a special interest in media and arts.
He is an independent parliamentary candidate for the Asante Akyem North constituency for the 2024 elections.
