Boxing trainer, Don Charles, has urged Anthony Joshua to consider his health and avoid the rematch against Daniel Dubois.

Dubois knocked out former two-time heavyweight champion Joshua in just five rounds in front of 96,000 people at Wembley Stadium last month to keep hold of the title after Oleksandr Usyk vacated it.

According to Charles, who trains Dubois, a rematch between the two boxers could leave Joshua in a worse state than he is in now.

According to the IBF rules, Dubois now has nine months to make a voluntary defence, which opens the door to a Joshua rematch as long as it occurs before April 22.

Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, after the defeat indicated his fighter’s preparedness for a rematch challenge, despite the loss that denied his quest for a third world title reign.

"He [Joshua] is my boy; I don't want him to have that rematch because they are not caring about his health," Charles, who is in Ghana for a four-day visit told the media on his arrival.

"If it's God's plan [for Dubois to beat him again] then yes. But in my opinion, take away the money, he shouldn't be going anywhere near Daniel Dubois.

"Dubois is bad for his health."

Charles' visit to Ghana is on the ticket of Bronx Boxing Promotions and will see him spend time with the boxing talent from the Bronx Boxing Gym including training two-time undefeated WBO African Featherweight champion, John Laryea.

Laryea is set for his first international bout next month when he faces Nicaragua's Alexander Mejia at Caribe Royale Orlando, Orlando – USA on November 1.
