Alan Kyerematen, leader of the Movement for Change, has confirmed that his running mate, Kwame Owusu Danso, has the full support of Dr. Abu Sakara, a key ally and long-time friend.
Addressing rumours of tension within the Alliance for Revolutionary Change (ARC) during an interview with Joy News, Kyerematen dismissed these claims as baseless.
“Abu Sakara has been a long-time friend. There’s a lot of negative propaganda in this country about the choice of a vice president, but let’s not forget what has happened even within the NPP,” Kyerematen said, referencing the political challenges vice-presidential candidates often face in Ghana.
Alan Kyerematen stated that the Movement for Change, allied with other political entities under the ARC, remains united.
“We understand ourselves, and we know what we are doing. As the leader of the Alliance for Revolutionary Change, I committed to appoint a demonstrably young person as vice president, and this decision has been made with full backing.”
He stressed that the selection of his running mate was supported by all key leaders of the alliance, including Dr. Sakara.
“Abu Sakara and other ARC leaders have significant roles to play, not only in the campaign but also if we are voted into power,” he added, highlighting Sakara’s continued involvement.
Addressing the rumours directly, Kyerematen stated, “The propaganda you’ve seen in the newspapers is untrue. Abu Sakara has not made any statement suggesting a rift. Anyone who knows him knows this is not in his nature. We are together and united.”
He reiterated the alliance’s focus on empowering young people in Ghana, with Kwame Owusu Danso’s appointment as vice president being a crucial step in that direction.
“We are cool about it,” Kyerematen concluded, underscoring the unity within the ARC.
