The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that the certified voters’ register for the 2024 general elections will be ready by the first week of November.
This timeline was disclosed by EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa, during an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.
Madam Mensa assured political parties and stakeholders that the EC is committed to ensuring the voters’ register is accurate and comprehensive. She noted that the register will include eligible voters from the registration exercises conducted in 2020, 2023, and 2024.
According to the EC Chair, the Commission has been diligently working to resolve any discrepancies in the provisional register, aiming to produce a final list that is reliable for the 2024 elections.
“Over the last two weeks we have spent our energies to clean the PVR to ensure the information presented on the register is accurate. Simply put, we have worked to ensure that every applicant who registered in 2020, 2023, and 2024 are in the voters register.”
“We are confident that the revised PVR that we present starting today is a marked departure from the register we presented during the exhibition exercise as largely all the discrepancies presented to date have been fixed.”
