The Electoral Commission (EC) has released a detailed breakdown of the current Provisional Voters Register (PVR) as part of its ongoing voter verification and re-exhibition exercise.
The figures were presented today during the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting, chaired by EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa.
The meeting, which involved all political parties, civil society organisations (CSOs), and donor partners, was held to address the re-exhibition of the PVR scheduled from Tuesday, October 15 to Saturday, October 19, 2024.
In line with its commitment to transparency, the EC allowed live media coverage of the IPAC meeting, continuing its efforts to ensure public confidence in the electoral process.
Below is a breakdown of the current state of the Provisional Voters Register:
- Number of valid voters: 18,772,251
- Females: 9,689,987
- Males: 9,082,264
- First-time voters: 708,280
- Special voters: 131,476
- Total number of transfers: 332,107
- Transferred voters list: 311,344
- Proxy voters list: 2,142
- Exception list: 33,536
Multiples list: 26,790
Missing voters list: 1,273
The re-exhibition of the Provisional Voters Register is part of the EC's efforts to ensure accuracy and address any discrepancies in the list, allowing voters and political stakeholders to verify and resolve any concerns before the final voter roll is published.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for participants to share their feedback and discuss key issues relating to the electoral process.
