Former Black Stars forward Charles Taylor has rated Sudan's coach, Kwasi Appiah, and his technical team as “better” than their counterpart, Otto Addo's.
Appiah, who has coached Ghana on two occasions, held Addo’s Black Stars to a goalless draw in Accra during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers last week Thursday.
The two trainers will face off again on Tuesday in Libya for the second encounter in the qualifiers, with the second spot up for grabs in Group F, where Angola currently leads with nine points.
“Sudan came for a draw, and that is when our coaches should have demonstrated their tactical awareness because we [Ghana] wanted victory,” Taylor said in an interview with Angel Sports.
“Otto Addo is not a listening coach. Compare our technical team to that of Sudan. Kwasi Appiah [Head Coach] is better than Otto Addo, Ignatius [Assistant Coach] is better than John Paintsil, Eric Amponsah is better than Fatau Dauda as goalkeepers' trainer. Their [Sudan] tactics were better than ours.
When asked for his advice to Coach Otto Addo for securing victory, Taylor said: “Otto does not listen to advice. He does what he wills, so what can I tell him? What I will say is that the boys should do their best.”
Ghana is yet to win a game after three matches, having drawn two and lost one, which has left them in third.
A win for the Black Stars will elevate them above Sudan ahead of the final two games of the qualifying series in November, while anything less than a victory will complicate the Black Stars' chances of reaching Morocco.
