Three people are feared dead after a dynamite explosion of rocks near Buduburam on the Accra-Winneba highway.
Eyewitnesses report that the explosion occurred during routine activities related to ongoing highway construction in the area.
Residents stated that the construction company typically issues warnings for passersby to vacate the area before any rock blasting is undertaken.
However, it is still unclear how the mishap on Monday afternoon occurred, leading to the tragic incident.
A total of 42 injured individuals were transported to St. Gregory Hospital.
According to the hospital's administrator, Matias Ayegre, three of the injured have died, while the remaining patients are responding to treatment.
As a result, three individuals lost their lives, and 39 others sustained varying degrees of injury.
Some residents, angered by the incident, reportedly confronted the workers of the construction company operating in the area.
