The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Libya and Nigeria will not go ahead after the Super Eagles' decision to boycott the fixture.
Augustine Eguavoen’s side has chosen to withdraw from the game following reports of unpleasant treatment in Libya.
Nigeria, who were initially scheduled to land in Benghazi, had their flight diverted from their intended destination to Al Labraq.
The players and team officials were reportedly left stranded at the airport for over 12 hours with the players voicing their concerns on social media over the treatment meted to them.
Loudest among the voices was captain, William Troost Ekong, who kept updating the general public about the situation.
On Monday afternoon, the skipper announced the decision of the team not to play the game.
He wrote on social media the flight was ready to fly the players back to Nigeria as they were unwilling to play.
Earlier in the day, the Libyan Football Federation denied sabotaging the West Africans as part of frustrating them before the game.
Nigeria were scheduled to play Libya on Tuesday, October 15, on matchday four of the qualifying series.
