The running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman is urging Ghanaians to choose a leader who prioritises the development and welfare of the people in the December, 7 elections.
Addressing residents of Koforidua in the New Juaben South constituency as part of her two-day campaign tour of the Eastern Region, she warned of the consequences of electing tribesmen rather than effective leadership.
According to her the masses now feel the negative effects of considering the domineering tribe of a certain political party before voting for them in the last general election.
"My brothers and sisters, this election is not about who is my tribesman, it is not about where you come from, it is not about the colour or your like for a certain political party. It is about the one with the development of the country at heart, someone who will consider your welfare". She told a cheering crowd in the Central Business District of Koforidua.
Prof. Opoku Agyeman in her statement explained that the NDC is the party under the fourth republic to have spread development to every corner of the country without considering the political inclination of the people.
"We all know it is the NDC that has been able to build all the schools, hospitals, and roads among others without thinking about whether they voted for us or not. It is the NDC that established the Koforidua Polytechnic and later saw the need to upgrade it to a technical university. We never considered whether Koforidua voted for us or not". She explained
She has been campaigning to garner votes for the NDC in the Eastern Region since Tuesday.
