The Minister for the Interior, Henry Quartey, has officially renewed the curfew hours for Kpatinga and its surrounding areas through an Executive Instrument.

This decision comes as part of ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in the region.

Effective from Friday, October 4, 2024, the curfew will be in place from 12 midnight until 4 am.

The renewal of these curfew hours was made based on recommendations from the Northern Regional Security Council, reflecting the government's commitment to addressing security concerns in the area.

In his statement, Mr Quartey expressed gratitude to the Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and the residents of Kpatinga for their patience and restraint amid the challenges they face.

He emphasised the importance of utilising non-violent means to channel their energies toward ensuring a peaceful environment.

Additionally, the Minister announced a total ban on the carrying of arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons within Kpatinga and its vicinity.

He cautioned that any individual found in possession of firearms or ammunition would face arrest and prosecution, underscoring the government’s zero-tolerance approach to violence.

According to the statement, the government remains focused on fostering a secure atmosphere in Kpatinga, as it works closely with local leaders and the community to navigate these turbulent times.
