Asante Kotoko climbed to the top of the Ghana Premier League table following their win over Accra Lions on Sunday.
The Porcupine Warriors sealed a 1-0 win at the Len Clay Sports Stadium through Albert Amoah's second-half goal to move above Medeama SC.
Kotoko came into the game on the back of a win in midweek over Nsoatreman in their matchday two outstanding game.
The home side controlled the game from the very first minute and came close to scoring the opener in the opening half.
However, their efforts were thwarted by the Lions' defence, keeping the score at 0-0 heading into the break.
Three minutes into the second half, Prosper Narteh Ogum's side broke the deadlock.
Amoah tapped into the net after Saaka Dauda's out-swinging cross to give Kotoko the lead.
Late into the game, Elvis Kyei Baffour should have made it two for the home side but he missed after being played through by Peter Amidu.
The game ended 1-0 with Kotoko continuing their unbeaten start to the new season.
They now move to the top of the table after five games played.
They face Legon Cities in their next game which is scheduled for October 12.
