Ghanaian midfielder Michael Baidoo scored in Elfsborg's second game in the UEFA Europa League as they beat AS Roma.
Baidoo was named in the starting lineup for the second game of the competition and netted the only goal of the game at home in the 1-0 win.
Both teams had a cagey start to the game but it was the home side who were presented with the first opportunity of the game. Baidoo's right-footed shot was saved by the Roma goalkeeper.
Arber Zeneli also came close to opening the scoring for the Swedish side but couldn't make his effort count.
Roma's first opportunity fell to Matias Soule but his tame effort fell into the hands of the goalkeeper to keep the score at 1-1.
With five minutes away from the first-half break, Elfsborg were awarded a penalty. Tommaso Baldanzi's hand made contact with the ball.
Baidoo stepped up and converted from the spot giving the home team the lead heading into the break.
While Roma pressed to find the equaliser after the break, Elfsborg were resilient and held their ground to ensure they picked up all three points.
The goal is the midfielder's 24th goal of the campaign across all competitions.
