The Member of Parliament for the Akwatia constituency, Henry Boakye Yiadom has urged his constituents to end the one-term cycle where they failed over the years to renew the mandates of their past MP's after their first term in office.

According to him, the current situation where constituents would change their representation in parliament every four years stifles the development efforts in the area.

Addressing teeming supporters of the party during the official launch of his campaign at Topreman in the Eastern region, the MP cautioned against voting for a "first-timer who is now going to learn the rudiments of Parliament work."

He stated that due to his unprecedented work as the MP whose party is in opposition, he deserves to be retained.

Henry Boakye Yiadom explained that the people can only renew his mandate when he renders accounts of his stewardship.

"I have to account to you and that's why I am here with this big inscription of Okoyo toaso at the back of my shirt. As an opposition MP, the things I have done in this constituency, I deserve a second term.

"We have four blocks in Akwatia including Topreman, Bodua-Akwatia, Railways and I am proud to report to you that since I became MP, I have been able to spread development to all these areas," he emphasised.

The MP used the opportunity to launch the developmental projects he instituted since he won elections in 2020.

The aim, he explained, is to convince the people to retain him and vote to bring back John Mahama, the former president who is seeking re-election.

"Through my dynamism, I have been able to put up a clinic for the people of Anwiaso which will be commissioned soon, I have been able to lobby an NGO to build an Islamic School and Mosque for the people of No. 4, a bridge at Nyabirem, I have contributed in rehabilitating the Topreman CHIPS compound, durbar grounds, reshaping of roads among many projects," he stated.

The campaign launch was graced by legendary Ghanaian musician, Akosua Agyepong who thrilled the crowd with some of her performances.
