The Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) has announced possible traffic interruptions on the Atomic Bridge, popularly called the N4 in Accra, for a period of 20 days, due to maintenance works.
In a press release dated October 1, the GHA stated that the maintenance works would begin on Thursday, 3rd October, and end on Tuesday, 22nd October 2024 between the hours of 6a.m and 8p.m each day.
The maintenance works are to expand the joints on the Atomic Bridge in order to ensure that the road and its infrastructure are safe.
“The Ghana Highway Authority (GHA), acting on behalf of the Ministry of Roads and Highways (MRH), wishes to inform the general public that scheduled maintenance will be carried out on the expansion joints on the Atomic Bridge (N4) as part of our ongoing efforts to ensure Road safety and infrastructure integrity.”
The GHA cautioned that due to this, motorists and commuters are to expect some traffic hitches within this period.
They encouraged road users to use alternative routes and cooperate with the road engineers within this period to ensure the smooth and timely execution of the work.
“As a result, there would be traffic interruptions. Motorists are advised to adhere to the traffic management systems to be put in place by the team of engineers working on the overpass and also use alternative routes if possible.”
