The Electoral Commission (EC) has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering free and fair elections, citing its long-standing track record of credibility and transparency in managing the country’s electoral process.
The Commission made this statement in response to concerns from some political parties and stakeholders ahead of the 2024 general elections.
Speaking at an IPAC meeting on Tuesday, October 1, EC Chairperson Jean Mensa highlighted the Commission’s efforts to consistently uphold democratic principles throughout past elections.
She also stressed that the EC has overseen several successful elections, and its commitment to integrity has earned the trust of both Ghanaians and the international community.
"We have a proven track record of delivering credible elections, and we remain resolute in ensuring that the upcoming 2024 elections will be no different," Madam Mensa stated.
She assured the public that the EC has implemented robust measures to address any concerns regarding the voter’s register and election preparations.
The EC called on political parties and the public to continue collaborating with the commission to ensure a smooth and transparent electoral process.
Jean Mensa reiterated that the EC is open to scrutiny and welcomes any constructive feedback to further strengthen Ghana's democratic system.
