Renowned Islamic Cleric and Scholar, Sheikh Ishaq Nuamah has commended the Vice President and presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for his unifying character.
Addressing a youthful audience, mainly members of the Ghana Muslim Students Association (GMSA) from various campuses, Sheikh Nuamah said Dr. Bawumia, even though a Muslim, commands significant support from non-Muslims, because of his character.
"Bawumia is a unifier," Sheikh Nuamah said emphatically.
"If you watch the campaigns in all the regions, how many are Muslims? How many Muslims are in this country? But when you look at the audience following him, it’s huge. Maybe only a few are Muslims."
Sheikh Nuamah urged the students and the Zongo community to join forces with the rest of the country to give Dr Bawumia a chance to serve Ghana as President, because of his other proven good character.
Sheikh Nuamah added that from his interactions with a broad section of Ghanaians, they tell him about the qualities of Dr Bawumia, hence the overwhelming support he's getting.
"Chiefs and pastors who are non-Muslims are rooting for him…"
"They tell me, ‘As for the man, he is very humble’."
"Yes, he is very, very humble. He is very tolerant. You can insult him from morning to evening and he won't mind you. Kindness is also one of his traits and it is a character trait that when you have, it draws people closer.
"He is also hardworking and results-oriented. Those working at close range with him know that he is result-oriented."
