New Patriotic Party (NPP) vice presidential candidate Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh has cautioned electorates in the Ashanti Region about the dangers of casting their ballots for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He stated that the NDC is not committed to the development of the Ashanti Region, so anybody in the region who will mistakenly vote for the NDC should consider his/her vote as a waste.
Dr Prempeh explained that “we vote in elections for development, so if you vote for a political party that doesn’t have your progress at heart, then you have wasted the vote”.
Nicknamed ‘Napo’, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Vice Presidential Candidate stated that it’s only the NPP that has the progress of the Ashanti region at heart so the people should vote for them.
“The NDC is not committed to the proper development of the Ashanti region”, the NPP Vice Presidential Candidate openly declared at Tweapeasi in the Odotobiri Constituency on Tuesday.
The NDC, he pointed out, wins huge votes in the Ashanti Region during elections, yet the NDC always discriminate against the people of the Ashanti region whenever they win political power.
Napo said he is surprised about the NDC’s attitude towards the people of the Ashanti Region.
“The number of votes that the NDC obtains from the Ashanti Region during elections is very huge, yet the NDC still consider Ashanti as a region that doesn't support them.
“The progress of the country, notably the Ashanti Region, always comes to a standstill whenever the NDC occupies the seat of government and I think it’s deliberate”, he fumed.
He said he could give countless examples of how the NDC deliberately introduced some harmful policies to punish the people of the Ashanti Region when they (the NDC) were in government.
Citing a key example, Napo said that former President John Kufuor’s NPP administration introduced the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to boost the healthcare of the people.
“But immediately the NDC assumed the mantle of leadership, they fiendishly introduced capitation for NHIS only in the Ashanti Region just to create hardship for the innocent people”.
He also said the general progress of the region always comes to a halt whenever the NDC is in office.
“This is deliberate because you can see that the NDC and their leaders have something against the people of the Ashanti Region. We should, therefore, reject the NDC on December 7”, he advised.
He said ex-President Mahama also openly chastised the people of the Ashanti Region without provocation.
He said John Mahama, after discriminating against this region, turned around and said, "As for the people in the Ashanti Region even if you construct their roads with gold, they will never appreciate”.
Napo argued that everything shows that the NDC and their leader, John Mahama, don’t have the Ashanti Region in their plans “so please don’t vote for the NDC and waste your precious votes”.
