The Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Rashid Tanko Computer, has expressed confidence that Ghanaians will vote for the NDC in the 2024 elections, regardless of their position on the ballot.
His assurance follows the party's placement in the eighth position during the recent Electoral Commission ballot for the upcoming elections.
In an interview with Channel One TV on Saturday, September 21, Mr. Tanko Computer dismissed concerns over the ballot position, noting that it has little influence on election results.
He highlighted that previous elections have shown that the NDC's position on the ballot did not necessarily impact their performance.
He further pointed out that in past elections, the NDC had secured the top spot but still failed to win, underscoring that the party's message and connection with the people are more important than their position on the ballot.
Tanko Computer reassured supporters that the NDC’s focus remains on addressing the concerns of Ghanaians and presenting a solid campaign to win their trust, regardless of where they appear on the ballot paper.
“If you pick number one, it doesn’t guarantee your win. We have placed severally on the number one position and lost the elections, it doesn’t win you the elections."
“I am also saying that, even if we are placed in the deepest part of the ballot paper, Ghanaians are voting for the umbrella. They virtually will look for the umbrella, that is what everybody is looking at."
“If you go to the rural community, you will see that everybody is talking about the umbrella and they will definitely look for it,” he stated.
