Vision FC maintained their unbeaten start to the Ghana Premier League after a 1-1 draw with Legon Cities on Saturday, September 20, 2024, at the Nii Adjei kraku Sports Complex in Tema.
Paa Kwesi Fabin’s Legon Cities side came into the match determined to claim all three points after a sluggish start to their campaign.
Legon Cities dominated stretches of the first half, threatening down the flanks and putting pressure on Vision FC’s full-backs, Suraj Musah and Kusi Asante.
Despite the early pressure, Vision’s compact midfield, led by Elijah Addai and Kingsley Appiah, helped to neutralize the visitors’ attacking threat.
Both teams created few clear-cut chances in the first half, but Legon Cities’ Foster Twum missed an opportunity to convert a sweeping pass across Vision’s defence in the 36th minute, leaving the first half goalless.
Four minutes into the second half, Legon Cities broke the deadlock through Ismael Amoah, who scored a brilliant goal to give the visitors the lead.
Ambitious Vision FC responded by ramping up the pressure, repeatedly searching for an equalizer. However, Legon Cities goalkeeper Kwame Aziz made a crucial save in the 84th minute, denying Issah Kuka’s powerful shot from distance.
The breakthrough came in the 88th minute when super-sub Emmanuel Kyei Baffour lobbed the ball past the goalkeeper to secure a 1-1 draw for the home side.
The result lifts Vision FC to second place in the league with six points, just behind former champions Medeama. Meanwhile, Legon Cities sit in 14th place with 1 point.
