The Mankrado of Battor traditional area in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region, Togbe Borbordzi VII, has stated that alternating leaders from different political parties foster development rather than voting constantly for one political party.

He used the case of the Hohoe Constituency in the Volta region to make his point suggesting that the constituency noted for voting for a particular party until it made a change in the 2020 election, has seen an appreciable development under John Peter Amewu, the New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament.

John Peter Amewu is the only New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP in the region.

He won the Hohoe seat in the 2020 general elections with a margin of over 1,500 votes.

Speaking about this year's election, Togbe Borbordzi suggested that changing political leaders from different political parties usually bring about development rather than sticking to leaders from one party.

"We shouldn't follow one person forever; we should be able to change our style. Especially, I love Hohoe, the way they are at the center, it means that in the Hohoe area, any party that will mess up will be left out".

He emphasized that "I think it is a good move".

The Chief was speaking at a press briefing to deliberate on the Akosompo and Kpong dams’ spillage disaster in the district a year on.

He urged the next leader of the country to normalize the country's industrialization through tax exemptions, good export and import policies, and other key areas for nation-building.

However, the Chief said the Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has done a good job for the area and deserves another term.

“But I think our MP [Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa] is doing well for us, he has done a great job for this district. Even what he did during the flood was a massive one, how he devoted his time, energy, and anything to make sure that we were okay is a testament that, he is a good MP and I urge the constituents to vote for him again in this election” he said.
