The Adhoc Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining has dismissed allegations made by Kwame Baffoe, the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), claiming that the leadership of Organised Labour demanded money to call off a planned strike.
In a press statement released on Thursday, September 19, 2024, and signed by the Committee’s Chairman and Minister for National Security, Albert Kan-Dapaah, the claims were labelled as “baseless and unfounded.”
The committee urged the public to disregard the accusations, stressing that no financial demands were made during its engagement with Organised Labour.
“No such demand has been made, and no such payment has been made either,” the statement clarified.
Mr Kan-Dapaah stated that the discussions were conducted in good faith, without any inducement or financial influence.
“The engagement between the Committee and Organised Labour was held in good faith and without inducement,” he reassured.
As part of its mission to combat illegal mining, the Adhoc Ministerial Committee affirmed its commitment to transparency and collaboration with all stakeholders.
The public has been asked to dismiss these claims, which the Committee described as false.
