The First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, has congratulated Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings on her Lifetime Achievement of the Year award.
The honour, she said, espoused the former First Lady’s exemplary work in promoting the cause of humanity.
This was contained in a statement posted by Mrs. Akufo-Addo on her Facebook page.
Nana Agyemang-Rawlings was a recipient of the award at the 2024 Ghana Women of the Year Honours programme, held at the Palms Convention Centre, Accra.
A citation accompanying the award read: “You have dedicated your life to the pursuit of equality, justice and the upliftment of women and children in Ghana.”
“As the First Lady of Ghana from 1981 to 2001, you transformed the role of First Lady into a powerful platform for advocacy and change, setting the standard for future generations.”
This year’s edition featured the First Lady of Ghana as the Special Guest of Honour, who was also awarded the Ultimate Woman of the Year.
The Ghana Women of the Year Honours, now in its ninth year, continue to highlight and recognise women who excel in a various sectors, including business, education, health, public service, and hospitality.
“I am humbled that my work with the Rebecca Foundation and the Infanta Malaria Prevention Foundation, has earned me such recognition,” Mrs. Akufo-Addo noted.
She praised all the honourees for their dedicated services and impact on society.
