The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tarkwa Nsuaem, Benjamin Kesse, has revealed they have assumed control of the TnA stadium from the National Sports Authority (NSA) alleging poor maintenance by the latter.
The stadium had been handed to the NSA following its commissioning ahead of the start of the new Ghana Premier League season.
Earlier this week, there were reports of the municipal assembly fighting to take over the newly built stadium from the NSA citing inadequate maintenance plans.
Kesse has revealed a committee has been set up to ensure the proper maintenance of the stadium which serves as the home venue of former champions Medeama SC.
"Things are not working. If you attend a program at the stadium, you will realise that for the past one month, the washrooms are as dirty as you can think of," Kesse told 3Sports in an interview.
"Most of the aspects of the stadium are not functioning. We cannot sit and wait to see the stadium go bad the way other stadiums have gone bad so we have taken our natural position."
The committee set up is reportedly headed by former Chief Executive of Officer of Medeama, James Essilfie.
In the last few days, the Accra Sports Stadium, Baba Yara Stadium and Cape Coast Stadium have all been closed down by the NSA for maintenance purposes after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) directed the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to look for an alternative home venue for the Black Stars next game.
