The Chief of the Ewe Community in Ashaiman, in the Greater Accra Region, Torgbui Aheto Exa 111, has expressed appreciation to the Vice President and flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for his historic visit to them.
Dr. Bawumia, as part of his campaign tour of the Ashaiman Constituency, paid a courtesy call to the Ashaiman Ewe Chiefs and his elders, to listen to their concerns and also share with them his message and policies for the country.
Welcoming Dr Bawumia to the Palace, Togbe expressed special gratitude to the Vice President for what he called an unprecedented visit to the Ewe community.
'I must say that this is the first time any senior politician has visited Ashaiman and has singled out the Ewe community for such a visit,' said Torgbui Aheto Exa 111.
"We will never forget this visit and this gesture," he added.
The Chief added, jovially that just as former Ugandan President, Iddi Amin, reportedly told the Queen of England that he will "retaliate" her hospitable reception when she also visits Uganda.
"Just as Iddi Amin said, we will also never forget your historic visit and we will retaliate," he said, amidst laughter.
He assured that the Ewe community is huge in Ashaiman and plays a crucial role in determining electoral fortunes in the Ashaiman constituency.
Commending Dr Bawumia further, the Chief said he has been following the Vice President's campaign and how he conducts himself and urged him to continue to preach a message of unity.
Speaking, Dr Bawumia expressed gratitude to the Chiefs and people for their warm reception and assured them of his quest to build a nation of opportunities for all regardless of one's ethnic and religious background.
"Building one Ghana and creating opportunities for all is my priority," Dr. Bawumia said, as he stressed his message of unity.
Dr Bawumia seized the opportunity to elaborate on several policies he intends to implement as President, in his transformational vision.
