There is a call for political actors to prioritize issues of women and children in the upcoming general election.
According to the women’s group of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Precious Vessels of Virtue (PVV), women and children often bear the brunt of political instability and violence, hence the urge for political parties to promote peaceful and fair elections.
Director of PVV, Mercy Odotei, says as the general election approaches, her message serves as a timely reminder of the consequences of political conflict and the importance of safeguarding the interests of all citizens, especially the most vulnerable.
She was speaking at the 6th annual conference of the Precious Vessels of Virtue (PVV), held in Kumasi.
She urged politicians to prioritize the well-being of women and children during the electoral process to avoid any conflicts that could affect these vulnerable groups.
"We will keep praying for the nation, especially since this is an election year.
Ghana is all we have, and we urge politicians to avoid any actions that could threaten the peace of the country," she said.
The PVV conference serves as a gathering for women across the regions to seek spiritual growth and engage in meaningful conversations about their role in society as Christians.
Participants are empowered and educated in finding their purpose as Christians.
"We believe God has a unique purpose for women, and we are dedicated to empowering and refining the vision of women in the Ashanti region, so they can make a positive impact on society,” Mercy Odotei revealed.
The women's conference is under the theme: God's Chosen: Embracing our Identity and Purpose”.
