Berekum Chelsea claimed their first win of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, after defeating Karela United 1-0 in their week two encounter at the Nana Agyeman Badu Park on Sunday.
Mizack Afriyie netted the decisive goal just 10 minutes into the match, giving Chelsea the early advantage.
Karela struggled to respond, especially in the second half, with Afriyie's goal ultimately securing the victory for the hosts.
The win extends Samuel Boadu's side unbeaten home record against Karela and marks their fourth win in seven meetings between the sides.
It also elevates Berekum Chelsea to third place in the standings with four points, as they now prepare for a tough clash against Asante Kotoko.
Karela United, on the other hand, suffered their second consecutive loss following their opening day defeat to Kotoko.
Now positioned 17th on the table, they will aim for their first points of the season when they host Accra Lions in Nalerigu.
