Kamaradini Mamudu's first-half strike was enough to give Medeama SC a 1-0 victory over Legon Cities in matchweek two of the Ghana Premier League at the University of Ghana Stadium.
The Tarkwa-based side entered the game looking to build on their opening-day win against Accra Lions and achieved that.
Mamudu found the net in the 19th minute - his third consecutive goal against Legon Cities - capitalizing on a deflected header to put Medeama ahead. Despite efforts from Legon Cities to equalize, Medeama held their lead into halftime.
In the second half, Legon Cities created a few chances but couldn’t find the back of the net, leaving their fans and coaching staff frustrated.
Medeama's defense remained solid, securing consecutive clean sheet and a perfect start to the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
This defeat leaves Legon Cities at the bottom of the table, with pressure mounting on head coach Paa Kwesi Fabin to turn things around when they face Vision FC in their next match.
Medeama, on the other hand, extended their dominance over Legon Cities, boasting 8 wins in 10 encounters across all competitions since 2020 and a third consecutive win over the Royals.
With this second straight Premier League win, they sit atop the table with 6 points.
Their upcoming match against Samartex may be postponed due to Samartex's CAF Champions League commitments.
