The Running Mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, has hailed the party as a "blessed party," citing the longevity of its former president as a testament to its fortune.
He noted that all the presidents who have come to power under the NPP in the Fourth Republic are still alive.
It is not clear what he sought to communicate or what triggered this particular comment.
Speaking at a campaign rally, Dr Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, highlighted the significance of this, emphasising the continued influence and wisdom these leaders bring to the party.
He praised the NPP for its strong leadership legacy, which he believes sets it apart from other political parties in Ghana.
The former Energy Minister also pointed out that President Akufo-Addo continues to benefit from the guidance of former President John Agyekum Kufuor.
He mentioned that this ongoing mentorship contributes to the strength and unity of the party as it prepares for the 2024 elections.
Dr Opoku Prempeh concluded by expressing confidence in the NPP's ability to lead Ghana to further development, drawing on the experience and knowledge of its past and present leaders.
He urged supporters to rally behind the party as it moves forward with its vision for the country.
"Due to God's blessing, the NPP President [J.A. Kufuor] is still alive. President Akufo-Addo consults him. He has lived long. God wants him to see what has become of the good work he did," he said.
