The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially endorsed the 2nd Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Andrew Amoako Asiamah, as its parliamentary candidate for the Fomena constituency for the 2024 elections.
The endorsement was unanimously agreed upon at the party's National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.
Announcing the decision, NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, praised Asiamah for his unwavering support of the party despite serving as an independent Member of Parliament for Fomena.
He noted that the party has benefited significantly from Asiamah's actions in Parliament and expressed optimism about winning back the Fomena seat with him as their candidate.
Chairman Wontumi highlighted the loyalty and dedication Asiamah has shown, which he said has greatly bolstered the party's image in Parliament.
He expressed gratitude on behalf of the NPP and emphasized that Asiamah’s return to the party signals a victorious outcome for both the Fomena constituency and the party’s presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
In his response, Asiamah expressed how much he had missed being part of the NPP, a party he holds close to his heart.
He reaffirmed his commitment to lead the NPP to a resounding electoral victory in Fomena and pledged to work closely with the party to achieve this goal.
Mr Asiamah called on the party’s leadership and supporters in Fomena to put aside any past grievances and unite for the greater good of the NPP.
He urged all stakeholders, particularly Assembly members, to rally behind the party’s ongoing projects in the constituency as part of their campaign strategy.
Looking ahead to the 2024 elections, Asiamah emphasized the importance of showcasing the developmental projects in the constituency as a way to garner more support and secure a historic win for the NPP and Dr Bawumia.
