Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has appealed to voters in the Tano North constituency to cast their ballots in favour of the party’s parliamentary candidate, Dr Gideon Boako, in the upcoming December general elections since his presence in parliament will be an asset for the nation.
Addressing a gathering in Yamfo, as part of his nationwide tour to galvanize support for the New Patriotic Party, Dr Prempeh extolled Dr Boako as a paragon of competence and trustworthiness, asserting that Dr Boako has earned the respect and admiration of many Ghanaians through his exemplary political conduct, and that his presence in Parliament would be a significant asset.
Joining him for the tour were the Member of parliament for Assin Central Hon Kennedy Agyapong, Regional Party Executives, the Member of parliament for the area, Hon Freda Prempeh and other high ranking party officials.
Napo indicated that Dr Boako’s election would bring both credibility and effectiveness to the parliamentary role, which he believes will greatly benefit the constituency and the nation as a whole.
The NPP running mate also took the opportunity to address the need for vigorous campaigning across all constituencies, he called on NPP parliamentary candidates to intensify their efforts to ensure the party secures a commanding majority in Parliament. “I am calling on all the PCs and party members to go out and ‘fight’ for the party to ensure the NPP wins the presidential election and also more seats,” Dr Prempeh urged.
He reflected on the challenges faced by the current Akufo-Addo administration, attributing some of the difficulties to an evenly divided House, he stressed that such a situation should be avoided in the future to ensure smoother legislative processes and more effective governance.
In his appeal, Napo also urged party members to prioritize unity and focus on the collective goal of securing victory in the 2024 general elections. He acknowledged that internal differences could be a hindrance but emphasized that overcoming these challenges is crucial for the party’s success.
