Member of Parliament (MP) for Sekondi, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, has filed his nomination to contest in the 2024 general elections on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
After submitting his paperwork at the Electoral Commission's office, the MP expressed confidence in his chances of retaining the Sekondi seat, which he has held since 2017.
In his remarks to the media, Egyapa Mercer highlighted his contributions to the development of the Sekondi constituency during his tenure.
He pointed to several key projects such as the redevelopment of Effia Nkwanta into a Teaching Hospital, roads, and infrastructure improvements, which he believes have had a positive impact on the lives of his constituents.
According to him, these achievements will serve as a strong foundation for his re-election bid.
Mr Mercer emphasised that the Sekondi constituency has always been a stronghold of the NPP, and he is optimistic that the party will maintain its dominance in the area.
The Tourism Minister further assured constituents that, if re-elected, he would continue working to address the challenges they face and bring more development projects to the area.
The MP also called on NPP supporters in Sekondi to unite and rally behind the party to ensure victory in both the parliamentary and presidential elections.
He noted that a cohesive campaign effort is necessary to maintain the party’s hold on the seat and contribute to the re-election of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as President.
