The Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has officially filed the presidential nomination for the party's flagbearer, John Mahama.
The submission took place on Monday, September 9, 2024, at the Electoral Commission's office.
Speaking during the filing, he said, “We have brought with us a duly completed nomination form and let me commend you for making the forms available online so we did not have to come here to pick physically.”
The nomination forms, completed in quadruplicate as per legal requirements, were submitted along with necessary documents, including a tax clearance certificate and a declaration from the audit service in compliance with Article 286 of the 1992 Constitution.
He also presented a banker’s draft covering the filing fees and the accurately sized photographs as stipulated in the forms were also provided.
Mr Nketia also included details of Mr Mahama’s running mate, Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang,
“We are hopeful that she is going to be the first female of the republic of Ghana,” he said.
Additionally, he presented banker’s drafts covering the filing fees for all 276 NDC parliamentary candidates nationwide.
“We are hopeful that you notify your district offices about this so they don’t request another payment from our candidates. At this point, we have the pleasure to submit the documents to you for your scrutiny, and we will be awaiting for a declaration that our candidate has fully complied with the requirements,” he said.
