The US Embassy in Ghana says in a bid to improve the efficiency of immigrant visa processing, it is rolling out a new pre-screening process.
According to the Embassy, all applicants with immigrant visa interviews scheduled for September 2024 and beyond will be required to attend a pre-screening appointment 3-4 weeks in advance of their visa interview.

In a post on its official X account, it stated, “In addition to their visa interview notification, applicants will receive a separate pre-screening email notifying them of their pre-screening date and all documents required. At the pre-screening, a document review will be conducted, and applicants will be notified if they are missing any documents.”
It further stated that applicants will be instructed to obtain the missing documents to be fully prepared for their subsequent visa interviews.
The Embassy said that at the visa interview, consular officers will confirm whether applicants have attended their pre-screening and if they have all the required documents.
“Any applicant who did not attend their pre-screening or does not have all required documents fully prepared will be required to reschedule their visa interview for a later date.”
