The 2024 flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, has called on Ghanaians to vote wisely in the upcoming elections and avoid voting for a “clueless mate.”
He claims that instead of tackling economic challenges, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, (NPP) Dr Mahamudu Bawumia worsened it and is now concentrating on digitalisation.
Speaking at a mini rally at the Kintampo Presby Park in the Bono East Region, he said, “Now he (Dr Bawumia) says he doesn’t know anything about it because he was only a driver’s mate. How can we give power to a mate who is learning from a clueless driver who messed up the country?”
“Is it possible? How can we trust you? Due to your master's poor driving skills, the economy has been severely damaged, so how can we give you the steer.”
Mr Mahama questioned why the country should be led by an inexperienced individual rather than an experienced leader.
“I have served as president previously. There was food and peace while I was in charge. A dollar was worth four cedis, but it is currently worth sixteen cedis. During my tenure, a gallon of petrol cost 14 cedis, and a bag of cement cost 26 cedis, but now it costs 100.
“They continue to persuade you that, things are better now than when I was in charge, even after all of these. We must draw lessons from our past experiences,” he said.
