Two people, a taxi driver and his regular passenger, died on Thursday afternoon in a fatal accident involving a taxi and a trailer on the Techiman-Kintampo highway, between Amoma Nkwanta and Pramposo.
The taxi, traveling from Techiman to Kintampo, collided head-on with the trailer, instantly killing the driver, known as Ogyam, and his female passenger.
Their bodies were damaged beyond recognition.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred when a construction tipper truck failed to slow down behind the taxi, which had reduced speed to give way to the trailer due to the poor condition of the road.
The tipper truck hit the back of the taxi, forcing it into the oncoming trailer.
It took the Fire Service, Police, and road safety officials over two hours to remove the bodies from the wreckage.
During the rescue operation, another trailer, which failed to stop, crashed into another vehicle, injuring some passengers.
An officer from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), DO III Asah Manu, confirmed the incident in an interview with Adom News.
