The founder of political movement, The New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako, has made a strong case for a radical shift in governance during the launch of his manifesto on September 1.
According to him, Ghana deserves a new governance system since the current one has failed. In this regard, he plans to transform Ghana with a leadership style he termed "apostolic governance."
In his address, Mr Bediako introduced Pillar 9, which focuses on the concept of 12 ministries.
He explained Apostolic governance is not just a title but a system motivated by the story of the 12 disciples of Christ. In his administration, he said it will represent 12 ministries.
Elaborating on his plan, he said, "We present to you apostolic governance. One president, twelve ministers. Create a lean government that will be responsible for the 12 pillars."
This approach, he believes, will ensure that governance is not only effective but also sustainable, with a clear focus on essential sectors.
The proposed ministries include Finance, Trade, Energy, Education, Health, Justice, Agriculture, Interior, Foreign Affairs, Tourism, Business and Employment, and Defence.
The leader of the movement, also known as Cheddar pledged to review the mandate of each ministry to align with his vision of a prosperous nation.
He stated that the Finance Ministry in its present state was struggling but under his administration, he will refocus the ministry on investment. This he clarified would ensure that the right returns on investment are guaranteed.
Regarding the Trade Ministry, Cheddar said it has been too dormant in recent years. However, under his administration he would revitalise the ministry, transforming the country into one of the largest exporters, thereby reducing the dependence on imports.
For the Agriculture Ministry, Bediako proposed the establishment of a national seed bank, stressing that this initiative is crucial for food security and agricultural development.
Also, Cheddar clarified that these 12 ministries, which he refers to as "apostles," would be instrumental in upholding the pillars of society, ensuring that they remain strong and unbroken under his leadership.
