About 5,800 residents of Bortianor in the Ga South Municipality have benefited from a free medical health screening organized by Ghana Medical Relief (GMR).
They were attended to when GMR embarked on a five-day free medical outreach at the St. Karol Nursing School in Bortianor.
The team, which earlier donated to the Royal Seed Orphanage in Bawjiase, rendered services such as paediatric urology, medical, dental, and obstetrics, among others to residents of Bortianor and its immediate environs.
The event which was held in partnership with the Noble Order of Knights and Ladies of Marshall saw a range of medical services provided to the community with a total of 460 individuals benefiting from free dental procedures and extractions.
Additionally, over 4,000 prescriptions were dispensed, ensuring that residents received the necessary medications to manage various health conditions.
To improve access to healthcare, GMR facilitated the purchase of National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) cards for 2,300 individuals, enabling them to continue receiving medical care beyond the outreach.
GMR provided Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training to 140 residents and health professionals, equipping them with the skills to respond to cardiac emergencies effectively.
Also, some medical supplies and equipment were donated to selected health institutions nationwide to enhance their service delivery.
The President of GMR, Dr. Samuel Kwapong Owusu, in an interview on the sidelines of the outreach program's closing ceremony, expressed his profound gratitude to all those who supported in making this year’s medical outreach a success.
“I am hopeful that one village at a time, we will be able to provide quality health to deprived communities in Ghana,” he posited.
He advised the beneficiaries to take their health seriously and to avoid any future health implications.
He pledged to replicate similar outreach in the future to improve the livelihoods of Ghanaians across the country.
