FC Samartex received a boost in their quest to reach the group stages of the CAF Champions League, thanks to financial support from the Forestry Commission.
The Timber giants were given GH¢100,000 after presenting their Ghana Premier League trophy to the Commission at its head office in Accra on Thursday, August 29, 2024.
The delegation, led by club president Richard Duah Nsenkyire, included Captain Emmanuel Adu Siaw, midfielder Emmanuel Owusu Boakye, forward Seidu Abubakar, and General Manager Edmund Ackah.
"The Cup has given me some grabbing rights. When I meet my colleague paramount chiefs, they call me the champion," Paramount Chief of Wassa Amenfi Traditional Area and Forestry Commission Board Chairman, Tetrete Okuamoah Sekyim II said.
"Samartex are doing well and I hope they go far."
General Manager Mr. Ackah also expressed his appreciation for the financial support received.
"We thank you very much this morning for this great gesture and we promise that we will come back not only with the Champion of Champions Cup but to to take on the Moroccans and get to the group stages."
Samartex, who secured a 2-0 aggregate win over Victoria United, will face Morocco's Raja Club Athletic in the final phase of the qualifiers, scheduled for September 15.
