Dancer Dancegod Lloyd has hinted at launching a dance school named Dance, Grow, and Live (DGL).
Following his breakup with his former team, DWP, the dancer formed a group of his own. Together with the new team, they have initiated several dance challenges including Kidi’s ‘Lomo Lomo’ and King Promise’s ‘Terminator’ songs. They have also performed at various events.
Initially, he was scared of being betrayed, but after careful consideration and prayer, Dancegod Lloyd decided to keep the team and nurture their talents.
The dancer spoke during an interview on Joy Prime's afternoon show, Changes on Friday while sharing how he was able to assemble the team within a short period amidst the challenges he faced.
"It started off with King Promise's performance at TGMA. I was asked to call people. So, I reached out to Danny and others to help me and they did. After the performance I was like do I let them go? Because i saw real talents. Do I want to be betrayed? But I just allowed myself and prayed to God about it and look at us hear,” he said.
He started with five people, and the group has now grown to about twenty. The increasing number of people motivated him to open a school to train and uncover more talent in the field.
His past experiences have made him extra cautious in his dealings with people. He has sought the support of experts in various fields, including legal practitioners, to assist with the business aspects while he focuses on the art.
"I was scared in the beginning but now there's a structure. I have a lot of people that are helping me with this thing. I know I'm really good with young talents and taking care of them but I can't do everything myself. I have lawyers and people who are really invested in businesses. So now it's more like a business than just having fun. So, I think about the art and the other people think about the business. It's a school,” he added.
Despite having trust issues from past experiences, Dancegod Lloyd is confident in his new team of dancers, believing that they are genuine and instrumental in improving his craft and the launch of the school.
Having worked together for a year, he has decided to reveal the team and unveil the name of the school.
However, interested individuals are not permitted to join until the school is officially inaugurated, which he mentioned will be happening soon.
