The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has refuted claims suggesting that the Cylinder Recirculation Model (CRM) will eliminate cheating at the filling stations.
According to the Authority, the misinterpretation stemmed from an interview the Authority's Head of Communications, Abdul-Kudus gave to an Accra-based radio station, which was inaccurately reported in a headline suggesting that the Cylinder Recirculation Model (CRM) would eliminate cheating at filling stations.
The Authority insists that Mr. Abdul-Kudus addressed customer concerns about the integrity of gas quantities under the Cylinder Recirculation Model (CRM).
He emphasised that the CRM involves automated processes at bottling plants designed to ensure that customers receive the correct amount of LPG they pay for.
He also noted that exchange points are equipped with scales, allowing customers to verify the quantity of gas in their cylinders.
In a press statement, the Authority noted that the media publication indicated that Mr. Abdul-Kudus had claimed the CRM would eliminate all forms of cheating. However, the content of the article did not support this assertion.
“The purported statement, which was couched from an interview that he granted to an Accra-based radio station, was captured in the headline but the content of the story does not support that rendition”, the statement said.
The NPA pledged its continuous commitment to its regulatory role, which includes fair treatment of all industry players and safeguarding customer interests.
The Authority is also urging the public to utilise the available resources, such as scales at exchange points, to verify the accuracy of their LPG refills.
