Telecel Ghana, a leading telecommunications company, celebrated the Homowo Festival with donations and a community-focused HealthFest initiative, offering free health screening to residents of Bukom in Accra.
These events exemplify Telecel Ghana’s commitment to empowering communities and fostering well-being.
The HealthFest initiative, led by the Telecel Ghana Foundation, is dedicated to enhancing healthcare access for underserved communities across Ghana.
The event featured a wide range of services, including free health screenings, consultations, and the distribution of medication for conditions such as Malaria, Hepatitis B, Diabetes, and HIV/AIDS.
Rita Agyeiwaa Rockson, Head of the Telecel Ghana Foundation, Sustainability, and External Communications stated the importance of this initiative.
She said, "We are excited to partner with the Ga Traditional Council for this particular HealthFest. The initiative is more than just a medical outreach; it empowers communities to live healthier lives.
"By bringing these services to the heart of the Homowo Festival, we’re making healthcare accessible and fostering a stronger, healthier community."
The event at Bukom Park received an overwhelming response, with about 400 community members benefiting from medical screenings and more than 1,300 NHIS registrations.
This initiative held bi-monthly in various regions, targets communities with limited healthcare access, reinforcing the Foundation’s commitment to improving health outcomes nationwide.
Beyond healthcare services, Telecel Ghana’s donations demonstrated the company’s unwavering dedication to supporting local communities during the Homowo Festival.
This contribution addressed immediate needs and highlighted the organization’s holistic approach to community engagement.
Richmond Sedor, Executive Head for Accra West at Telecel Ghana, expressed pride in the company’s ongoing efforts: "At Telecel Ghana, we believe that our responsibility extends beyond providing telecommunications services. We are committed to being an active partner in the communities we serve."
