The Chief of Sefwi Boinzan and Kontihene of the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area, Nana Ofori Ahenkan II, has called for peace as the country prepares for the 2024 general elections.
At the Elluo Festival which was themed “Creating a Peaceful Atmosphere for 2024 Election Before, During, and After; The Role of Traditional Leaders,” Nana Ofori Ahenkan II emphasised the critical role traditional authorities play in ensuring national peace and unity.
The chief encouraged political leaders, party supporters, and the general public to prioritize the stability of the nation over partisan interests.
He urged Ghanaians to embrace tolerance and mutual respect, especially during the election period.
Nana Ofori Ahenkan II also highlighted the need for collaboration between traditional leaders, the government, and security agencies so as to ensure peaceful conduct during the elections.
He called on all stakeholders to engage in constructive dialogue and conflict resolution mechanisms.
As a guest speaker, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) running mate, Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman urged all and sundry to maintain the peace the country has enjoyed over the years.
She also emphasised that every Ghanaian must contribute to ensure the country gets the peaceful atmosphere needed for the upcoming elections.
The Elluo Festival, known for its cultural significance, brought together dignitaries, local leaders, and the community to celebrate unity and reflect on the role of tradition in fostering peace.
