Okwawu United need to be back playing on Okwahu soil urgently and in good time. That is the message from club president and Nkosuohene of Nkwatia, Nana Owiredu Wadie I (NOW1).
Okwawu United will play its home games in the upcoming season at the Koforidua Stadium, but NOW1 says it is now the responsibility of every Okwawu fan to help bring them truly home in an effort to ensure the club takes its rightful place in the Ghana Premier League.
In an engagement with club executive Mr. Kwadwo Akoto Bamfo on the plans for the new season, NOW1 pledged his full support towards bringing the club back to play home games on Kwahu soil. And as a first step, Nana Owiredu Wadie I has pledged to help mobilize substantial funding towards the Mpraeso Park redevelopment “The Legacy Project.”
He is also urging all Kwahu citizens and friends of the club to contribute financially and materially to the project.
NOW1, as affectionately called, believes Okwawu United should be competing in the premier league of Ghana football and, to achieve this, the club needs its grounds. The Mpraeso Park redevelopment project, an initiative under the Kwahuman Club 100, is a community coming together to provide a befitting playing ground for Okwawu United F.C. and teams in the community.
The project so far has received funding and material support from the following institutions and companies: Mpraeso Constituency Office, VSA/Virtual Infosec Africa, Atala Limited, ESM Company, Hawkrad Group, Rocksters Roofing Systems, and Kabaka Foundation.
Okwawu United FC, currently in the Division One (1) league, is gearing up for the new season after coming runners-up in the precursor GFA DOL Super Cup tournament.
