The Director of Communications and Spokesperson for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia's campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has stated that the upcoming elections must focus more on addressing key issues rather than being driven by emotions or personal interests.
He stated that the elections should focus on thoroughly examining the issues and distinguishing between personal interests and what will truly benefit the people.
Speaking on JoyNews’ AM Show on Friday, August 16, he said,” This election should be less of emotions and sentiments. If you are involved in all of these and in shaping the conversation, and you do not situate yourself in that space, then you are being very unfair to the people and you may have to answer for it at a point in time.”
“I think that our conscience should let us go to the people and say, this is genuinely what I think the solution is to this. What do you think? And give them a reason to trust that you would deliver,” he said.
Mr Aboagye noted that Ghanaian voters have transformed compared to previous years.
According to him, current voters analyse issues in a more nuanced and detailed manner.
“People are analysing things a lot more differently. People are breaking down things a lot more differently. That is why you are not getting that feeling that you were expecting to get in previous elections. People are really analyzing the situation. This election will be interesting. There is a whole lot of difference in the voter orientation,” he said.
