Ghanaian musician and Independent Parliamentary Candidate for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as Kwame A-Plus, has revealed that he takes his safety seriously by sleeping with a gun.
This according to him is due to numerous threats he has received.
In an interview with DJ Slim on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, A Plus said despite facing online backlash for his outspoken nature, he's never encountered personal dislike.
However, he has received threatening calls, which he brushes off.
To ensure his protection, A Plus keeps a gun and is always prepared to defend himself.
He recalled the tragic murder of music mogul Fennec Okyere, emphasizing his determination not to meet the same fate.
"When you fall asleep, you will probably do so with your phone in your hand.
“I fall asleep with my gun in my hand. Even sometimes, I'm sitting on UTV, I have a gun in my pants. I'm just living and I don't want to die like Fennec," he said.
Kwame A-Plus described Fennec's murder as a senseless incident.
"Fennec was in his room sleeping, and then people came and he had to wait for them to come and murder him. Bro, you can't die like that. He had to wait. He didn't have anything, no form of protection, so he just had to wait for people to come and murder him," he said.
A Plus affirmed his readiness to defend himself, even in death.
"I still have the pictures on my phone. And when I look at Fennec's pictures, I say to myself, 'Me, I will not go like that," he said.
"The kind of things I will do before I die when you put me on my bed, you will see me smiling because I would have shot at least one person before I died”, he noted.
