Hearts of Oak coach, Aboubakar Ouattara is optimistic that his team’s victory in the Homowo Charity Cup will serve as a turning point in the upcoming season.
The Phobians have faced a challenging period in recent years including narrowly avoiding relegation on the final day of last season.
After losing the Democracy Cup to Asante Kotoko in July, Hearts redeemed themselves by defeating Heart of Lions 8-7 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in regulation time to claim the Homowo Charity Cup on Sunday.
"I am proud because last season [fans] suffered and after, I think this trophy is just the beginning of the league. Maybe we can see a new-look Hearts of Oak in the league.
"These boys already have the talent, now left with performance. It’s like a diamond that needs polishing before being sold. We have time to prepare, less than a month.”
Hearts of Oak begin their campaign against newly promoted side Basake Holy Stars in the Ghana Premier League which starts on September 6.
