Hasaacas Ladies Assistant Coach, Emmanuel Mensah, has revealed that his team has found replacements for Mukarama Abdulai and other players who will miss their 2024 WAFU B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers.
Mukarama, who scored eleven goals on their way to winning the Women’s Premier League, is out with an injury.
The club has also lost about three players to the Ghana U20 women’s national team, which is preparing to play at the 2024 U20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia at the end of this month.
Hasaacas open their WAFU B qualifying game today, Sunday, against Burkinabe side Omnisports Etincelle at the Stade de la Paix de Bouaké in Côte d’Ivoire.
“For me, I think that there are no doubts they are quality players; they are top-notch players. But we have come very far—very, very far,” Mensah said.
“Now that we are in the competition phase, we have to face the reality: Mukarama is not playing, we don't have Abiba, and we don't have the other girls like Vero.
“We have found their replacements and have worked hard on it. We have played some competitive friendly matches and have tried our best to address the issues.
“I don't doubt that they are quality players, but I think the team has moved beyond that, and we are ready to battle.”
After missing out on the two previous tournaments, Hasaacas Ladies will be hoping to win this tournament and qualify for the main event following their second-place finish in the first edition in 2021.
