The Ahantaman Rural Bank PLC, a beacon of financial stability and growth in Ghana’s rural banking sector, has achieved remarkable success in the past year.
As the bank marks its 40th anniversary, it also celebrates significant milestones in its financial performance and community impact.
At the bank’s 36th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Apowa, Board Chairman, Eric Daning Esq. unveiled the bank’s impressive year-on-year growth.
Deposits soared by 32.46%, from GH¢178,237,582 to GH¢236,095,344. Investments also saw a significant rise of 27.75%, reaching GH¢113,426,367, while total income increased by 30.56% to GH¢60,001,892.
Perhaps most strikingly, profit after tax nearly doubled, with a 93.94% increase, reaching GH¢4,443,446.
This robust financial performance is a testament to the bank’s strategic initiatives, including its partnership with STARLIFE, which has expanded the bank’s service offerings to include insurance products.
This collaboration has transformed Ahantaman’s banking halls into comprehensive financial service centers, enhancing customer experience and convenience.Despite the challenges posed by Ghana’s current economic climate, Ahantaman Rural Bank has continued to prioritise customer support.
Chief Exceutive Officer, Benjamin Afful-Eshun, highlighted the bank’s efforts to adjust loan facilities to help customers maintain their businesses amidst rising inflation.
He acknowledged the impact of increased operational costs on the bank but remained optimistic about its financial health and future prospects.
“Our performance in the first half of this year already surpasses that of the same period last year, and we are on track to quadruple last year’s profit.The future is indeed very bright for Ahantaman Rural Bank PLC,” Mr. Afful-Eshun remarked.
The AGM also marked the launch of the bank’s 40th anniversary celebrations, set to continue until November 2024.
Over the past four decades, Ahantaman Rural Bank has not only grown financially but has also made significant contributions to community development.
In the past year alone, the bank invested GH¢630,710 in health, education, disaster relief, and other critical areas.
This included increasing bursaries for students and supporting the establishment of a blood bank at the Catholic Jubilee Hospital in Apowa.
Ahantaman’s contributions and consistent performance have not gone unnoticed.
The bank placed 2nd out of 147 rural and community banks in the ARB Apex Bank’s Efficiency Monitoring Unit ranking for the first quarter of 2024.
Additionally, key figures within the bank, including Board Chairman Eric Daning Esq. and CEO Benjamin Afful-Eshun, received prestigious awards, further cementing the bank’s reputation for excellence.As Ahantaman Rural Bank PLC celebrates its 40th anniversary, it does so with a sense of pride in its achievements and optimism for the future.
