The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has urged Ghanaians to reject John Mahama in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
He argued that a Mahama presidency would last only four years, making him unaccountable to the people as he would not be seeking re-election.
Dr. Bawumia made these remarks during his tour of the Eastern Region, where he has been engaging with constituents, traditional authorities, and religious leaders.

He stressed the importance of electing a leader who would be accountable to the people for a full term.
Dr Bawumia emphasised that Mr. Mahama, who would be on retirement after the polls, would not be seeking re-election, thus lacking the incentive to deliver on his promises.
Therefore, Dr. Bawumia urged Ghanaians not to vote for Mahama in the forthcoming election.
“If we vote for former president Mahama, he can only become president for four years. Four years and that is it. He doesn’t have to come back for another election. You wouldn’t see him again in Lower Manya Krobo, he won’t come back, he’ll just take the presidency and it’s bye-bye, honeymoon and it’s retirement.”
The NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has visited several constituencies in the Eastern Region, including Akropong, Asuogyaman, Lower Manya Krobo, and Yilo Krobo.
His campaign has focused on door-to-door engagement, community outreach, and meetings with traditional and religious leaders.
During one of his engagements, Dr. Bawumia pledged to provide a bus for Krobo Girls Senior High School, which was met with enthusiasm from the students.
“I just told Nene Sackitey that I’m going to personally buy a bus for Krobo Girls School so I will work on that for you," he promised.
